Windsor Islamic Association’s (Windsor, Canada) Ramadan Announcement

RAMADAN KAREEM 20201st Ramadan = Friday Apr 24th
Assalam-u-Alykum, Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Imam’s council of Windsor has confirmed that insh’Allah Friday April 24, 2020 will be the first day of Ramadan 1441.
The board of Directors and the staff of Windsor Islamic Association would like to wish Ramadan Kareem to the Muslim Community of Windsor and beyond. May Allah SWT accept our fasting, our prayers and our duas and may He bring peace, tranquility and happiness for all. Ameen.
As you would know, Ramadan this year will be different from any other Ramadan we have witnessed in our lives. This Ramadan, in view of the Covid-19 Pandemic Emergency, WIA have prepared multiple programs to cover for what we are going to miss in a traditional Ramadan in the mosque. These programs are accessible to you through our website, through Facebook and through ZOOM meetings.
Details of Ramadan program can be viewed at www.windsormosque.com/ramadan-2020
1. DAILY PRAYERS:
You will be able to watch the daily 5 prayers online at www.windsormosque.com.Prayers will be led by Imam Mohamed Mahmoud. The Mosque will remain closed for all members of the community, as we will strictly enforce the shutdown rules laid out by the local, provincial and federal health agencies. No requests for entry to the Masjid will be entertained during Ramadan, as we will not provide exceptions to this rule for anyone. There will be a token staff or board officials who will pray with the Imam (for a max of 5 persons) to fulfill the rights of the Masjid.
2. TARAWEEH PRAYERS:
1st Taraweeh on Thursday, April 23 with Isha at 10:15pm
Will be held everyday and a full completion (khatm) of the Holy Quran will be done in Taraweeh, just the same way we do every year, albeit this year you will watch the prayers and hear the Quran recitation only at www.windsormosque.com or www.facebook.com/windsormosque.
Taraweeh prayers will be led by Imam Mohamed Mahmoud and Imam Yousef Wahb and will be supported by Hafiz Mohammed Khan and Qari Haider Ahmed, in a rotation.
3. IFTAR FOR STUDENTS:
As you are aware, WIA has been supporting the Muslim Students Association (MSA) at the University of Windsor in the previous years to provide Iftar dinner for students who needed our support. The need still exists, as many international students depend on this service for their Iftars meals even now. Since the University is on a lock-down due to Covid-19, we are arranging meal pickup from restaurants that are located near the University area to provide Iftar for these students. Please donate for this cause at www.windsormosque.com/donate. Select “Iftar Fund” from pull down menu.
4. GROCERIES & IFTAR FOR LOW INCOME FAMILIES:
We started the grocery supply initiative at the beginning of Covid-19 pandemic to support low income families from our community. InshaAllah we will continue to do that through Ramadan. We are also making arrangements to deliver Iftar dinners to people in need. Please donate for this cause at www.windsormosque.com/donate. Select “Iftar Fund” from pull down menu.
5. IFTAR FOR FRONT-LINE HOSPITAL STAFF:
We are preparing to supply Iftar meals for those front-line health-care and hospital staff who are working at Iftar time. Please donate for this cause at www.windsormosque.com/donate. Select “Iftar Fund” from pull down menu.
